Reversible and Two-Way Zipper Sliders: Double-Pull and Reversible Options
Buyers often use "reversible slider" and "two-way zipper" to mean the same thing. They are not the same. Getting the terms right before you order saves a sampling round and keeps your closure working the way the garment needs it to.

Reversible and two-way are different things
The two words describe two separate features. A zipper can have one, both, or neither.
- Reversible slider: the pull tab flips from one face of the zipper to the other. It suits reversible garments, where the same jacket is worn inside out.
- Two-way zipper: the chain carries two sliders instead of one, so it opens from two points. This suits long coats, sleeping bags, and heavy outerwear.
Reversible sliders
A reversible slider has a pull tab that swings across the slider body, so it can rest on either side of the zipper. When a customer turns a reversible jacket inside out, the pull ends up on the outside face either way.
Reversible pulls pair with either an auto-lock or a non-lock body. Auto-lock uses a small spring pin that drops into the teeth and holds the slider in place until the wearer pulls the tab. Non-lock runs free and costs less to set, which fits light bags and low-stress closures. Two-way zippers: two ways to build them
A two-way zipper puts two sliders on one chain. How the sliders face each other decides how the closure behaves.
- Head-to-head (O-type), closed-end: the two sliders meet in the middle. The wearer can open the zipper from the top or the bottom while the ends stay joined. This is common on long coats and sleeping bags.
- Two-way separating, open-end: the zipper splits fully apart like a normal jacket zipper, but a second slider lets the wearer open a vent from the bottom while the top stays closed. Parkas and long raincoats use this so the wearer can sit or cycle.
On our finished-zipper lines, a double-head threading step sets the two sliders and pull tabs; the choice of open-end or closed-end teeth then decides which of the two builds above you get.

Materials, sizes and finishes
We die-cast slider bodies from zinc alloy, then plate them to match the pull and the teeth. Reversible and double-pull sliders are available in the common sizes we run: nylon coil in #3, #5 and #8, molded resin in #5 and #8, and metal in #5 and #8. Larger sizes carry the load on luggage and outerwear; smaller sizes keep dresses and light jackets clean.
Pull tabs are open to customization. We supply plain, rubber-handle, luggage and electroplated pulls, and we can set a logo pull for OEM orders. Match the slider body finish to the plating you choose for the rest of the zipper so the closure looks like one piece. How to specify a reversible or two-way zipper
Give your supplier these five points and the quote comes back clean:
- Tooth material and size — nylon, resin or metal, and the number (#3, #5, #8).
- Reversible or fixed pull — does the tab need to flip faces?
- One slider or two — and if two, head-to-head or separating.
- Open-end or closed-end — does the zipper come fully apart?
- Lock and finish — auto-lock or non-lock, plus plating and any logo pull.
